Will & Grace star Debra Messing called out E! over pay inequality during a live TV interview with network host Giuliana Rancic on the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday night.
Arriving at the Golden Globes, Debra referenced the departure of presenter Catt Sadler, who resigned in December after learning her male co-star earned almost double her salary.
She told host Giuliana: “I was so shocked to hear that E! doesn’t believe in paying their female co-hosts the same as their male co-hosts. I miss Catt Sadler. We stand with her.”
Debra went on: “We stand with her and that’s something that can change tomorrow. We want people to start having this conversation that women are just as valuable as men.”
Eva Longoria also referenced the pay dispute between Catt and E! when she said: “We stand for equal pay and we hope E! follows that lead, we stand with you Catt!”
Arriving at the ceremony with Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman, she added: “We are here to honour the women who came out originally, who kicked the door open.
“These women were so brave and we are building upon their message and their work.”
Reese added: “We are here to stand up for all women and men who have been silenced by discrimination and abuse.”
