Jennifer Lopez has admitted she lose her “sense of self” following her failed engagement to Ben Affleck and the pair’s hugely embarrassing film flop.
The actress and singer, who is now in a happy relationship with Alex Rodriguez, began dating the Batman actor on the set of famous box office bomb Gigli in 2002.
The pair – who also starred together in J-Lo’s Jenny From the Block music video – soon got engaged but ended up calling it off in 2004.
Speaking about the press attention she received and her broken relationship in the latest issue of Vanity Fair and the effect, the 48-year-old shared: “I was eviscerated.”
Continuing, the mum-of-two admitted: “I lost my sense of self, questioned if I belonged in this business, thought maybe I did suck at everything.
“And my relationship [with Affleck] self-destructed in front of the entire world. It was a two-year thing for me until I picked myself up again.”
A few years after their very high profile split, Ben also said his career suffered.
“If you went by what people said … I wasn’t cool and I wasn’t talented and I was, like, the lowest run of cool and talented that you could possibly be in the public consciousness at that time,” the actor said in 2006.
“I had broken up with Jennifer Lopez and I had, like, three or four movies in a row that had bombed.”
Elsewhere in the cover interview, Jennifer – who poses alongside A-Rod – dishes on the pair’s first date and also the saucy text he sent her mid-date.
The former baseball star revealed: “She told me around the third or fourth inning that she was single…I had to get up and go re-adjust my thoughts. I went to the bathroom and got enough courage to send her a text. [The text read] ‘You look sexy AF.’”
