MySpace co-founder Tom Anderson is offering to foot the bill for the Giants to keep Tim Lincecum.

Tim Lincecum has a friend, a generous friend, who wants to keep him in San Francisco.

Tom Anderson — aka MySpace Tom — wants Linceccum to continue with the Giants and is willing to foot the bill to keep the diminutive pitcher by the Bay Area.

“Can we keep @timlincecum if I pay for it? #6manrotation,” everyone’s first MySpace friend wrote on Twitter.

Fans, even rich fans, offering to pay a player’s contract is absurd. Team owners are obscenely wealthy, and don’t need any more handouts from the people in the seats, who are already getting robbed at the ticket office, team store and concession stand.

What makes MySpace Tom’s offer even more zany is that he’s not that much wealthier than Lincecum, who, if he wants to stay in San Francisco, could take a pay cut to do so.

Even though Anderson sold MySpace for $ 580 million in, his net worth reportedly hovers around $ 60 million.

Lincecum has earned almost $ 100 million in his nine MLB seasons and is worth about $ 20 million.

And, really, what’s $ 40 million between friends?
