Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber set tongues wagging when the Baby singer was spotted at her home in Los Angeles over the weekend.
The on-off pair enjoyed a roller coaster relationship from 2011 until finally splitting three years ago.
But fans who are hoping for a romantic reconciliation will be disappointed – the pair are said to have struck up a friendship once again following Selena’s kidney recent transplant.
“Selena is simply trying to make peace with Justin after her illness,” an insider told Us Weekly.
While a source close to Selena also told the publication: “Justin and Selena recently started speaking. I don’t know when exactly but it’s because of the same church they go to.
“The community there is pretty tight knit and Justin and Selena have a lot of mutual friends who brought them back together. They realized it was time to grow past their history and move on. They’re grown up a lot in the past couple of years and are mature about the situation.”
They added that Selena is still very much with The Weeknd, who she began dating at the start of the year, and the Canadian star is “well aware” of her friendship with Justin.
“The Weeknd doesn’t think Selena talking to Justin again is weird at all. He doesn’t care.”
Justin’s white Mercedes G-Wagon was spotted outside Selena’s Studio City home on Sunday. According to TMZ, the pair were also joined by mutual pals.
Back in September, Selena stunned fans when she revealed she underwent a kidney transplant over the summer.
In an open Instagram update, the star shared an image of herself on a hospital bed following her treatment.
“I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of,” she began.
“So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering.
“It was what I needed to do for my overall health. I honestly look forward to sharing with you, soon my journey through these past several months as I have always wanted to do with you,” she continued.
“Until then I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery.
“And finally, there aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me.
“I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis. Lupus continues to be very misunderstood but progress is being made.”
While Francia is a close friend of the pop singer and actress – with the pair being friends for nine years.
